Maverick Construction Underway

Click on the headline to see the construction for yourself! Be sure to also check out the webcam of Frontier Trail on Cedar Point's website which allows you to witness the construction site for yourself. Keep yourself updated on the progress by watching the webcam any chance you get. Also, it is now official that the heartline twist that follows the tunnel will be removed and be replaced by an "s-curve" track. This is still nice but definitely does not compare to the heartline. I guess souvenirs, press releases and the big sign in front of the ride all need to be changed now. Also, it helps to watch the animations on Cedar Point's website to know what exactly is being replaced. You can definitely tell it would be extreme for riders. Check it out by clicking here. The heartline is in between the rock walls right after the train launches out of the tunnel and makes it's way over the pond.

Thoughts About Maverick.......

So now that Cedar Point is officially open, I'm sure many of us have had the opportunity to see Maverick for ourselves. I am rather surprised that Maverick's theming and overall design has exceeded the expectations that i had before seeing it for myself on opening day. As I made my way across Frontier Trail to the beautiful newly constructed section of the park where Maverick sits, I was truly mesmerized by Maverick's beauty. The first part of the ride i saw was the drop and the tunnel that would launch the trains out at high speeds across the man-made body of water it stands upon. The queue lines and building look as if they had been there for many years and it helped to support the atmosphere that one senses when walking through Frontier Trail. You could even smell the wood so strongly as you approached what was once White Water Landing. As you pass the queue lines and make your way left towards the Meanstreak, you can't miss the incredible view on your left-hand side. What you witness is a colossal roller coaster that seems to intertwine within itself. Just staring at the silent and deserted roller coaster made me quiver. It showed me that Maverick would not be a easy feat to ride and it would truly be challenging and exciting. The overall design and scenary live up to the name Maverick. The fake rock walls and trains help to encompass the overall theme of Frontier Trail. What was once one of the dullest and most boring areas of the park, stands now as one of the most lively and exciting places. I got the chance to sit in the test seat and i must admit that it was very comfortable making it almost better than a lapbar. Just having the chance to be in Maverick's prescence has made me more excited and grow with the anticipation till the day Maverick is unleashed at Cedar Point.

Exhausted...........

Wow, i just walked into my house, took a nice hot shower, and can now barely move. It has been one amazing weekend. Cedar Point was as always a blast. I had so much fun. I have been there since Saturday morning. Around noon on Saturday i checked into my room at the Hotel Breakers. My room was beautiful, i highly recommend room 7232. I spent the day getting my season pass since i was too lazy getting it before. I waited an hour and a half in line to finally get my picture taken. I then went to the park which was absolutely packed and rode the TTD and the Magnum, each twice. I then went to my hotel and fell asleep till around 8 am today. I awoke to shower but the water was lukewarm and a little chilly for a shower. I called the lobby and they said that the boiler had busted and it was under repair. To compensate for the hot water, the hotel staff gave me 45% of my reservation back. I got a 134.00 credit. Boy, was i a happy camper. So my day started out incredible and it only got better. I got in to the park early because i am a resort guest and got to ride the TTD early in the morning. It's breakdowns are less common then before. The weather was beautiful, the crowds were light and i waited an average of 10-20 minutes per ride, the food was delicious and the atmosphere was one that only Cedar Point could create. Thank you Cedar Point for allowing me to have the happiest times since last year.

Opening Day Is Here!

Well technically it's not till tomorrow morning but it's past midnight which makes it MAY 12!!!!! I should be sleeping if i anticipate to make a two hour drive to the park and be riding roller coasters all day. But just thinking about Cedar Point has made it very hard for me to even put my head down or close my eyes. Just imagining that in 12 hours i will be on one of these roller coasters gives me goosebumps. Now, let's just wait and see how long i will be in the season pass line tomorrow.

The Fate of Disaster Transport

If there is one ride at Cedar Point I wish i could change or destroy, it would definitely have to be the Disaster Transport. Someone please tell me why this ride still exists in the park? Am i the only person who sees no need for it? Last summer, i went on Disaster Transport for the sole purpose of protection from the obliterating heat outside. This ride doesn't really have any excitement factor to it. Also, why exactly is the theming so strange on this ride? I wish Cedar Point would have just demolished it back in the 90's instead of deciding to go forth with plans to enclose the ride. Disaster Transport has definitely become a nuisance in the park. It needs to be torn down along with Oceania stadium and the Demon Drop to make room for an attraction more exciting. For more info on this stinker click here. Otherwise pray Cedar Point demolishes it, preferably the upcoming off-season.

Opening Day Hotel Reservations

This weekend sure will be a busy one for Sandusky as coaster enthusiasts from around the country pour in for opening weekend. For the third year straight, i have decided to once again make reservations at the Hotel Breakers for a more comfortable stay (but a much lighter wallet in my pocket; $200 bucks to be exact). So i wonder how many have decided to stay overnight or drive to and from the point in the same day?
